What a strange year it’s been so far. Summer is on our heels, yet it doesn’t quite feel like we should be taking a summer break. Oh, the weather has been warm enough, but the school year was interrupted and just ended strangely, so things still feel a bit off for me, at least.
June is always a hard month for me since I lost my dad, but we make the most of his memories and tell great stories to remember our time with him. And while it may be hard for me, I want my husband and kids to enjoy the day, so I try to make it as fun and memorable as possible each year.
This year we will be camping on a beautiful lake with tons of nature and activities. So we will likely spend most of Father’s Day outside and plan on grilling some of my husband’s favorite foods while he enjoys time off from cooking (he does all our cooking). How will you celebrate Father’s Day?
Holiday Meals & Treats
June is rather lacking in major holidays, except for Father’s Day. If you’re looking for some delicious recipes to enjoy while celebrating together with your Dad, don’t miss these great ideas! You could serve Dad breakfast in bed with one of these French Toast recipes. Spice up his lunch with a Jalapeno Popper or make a special dessert he’ll love.
And with summer getting started, you’ll want some handy recipes to keep on hand as you try to stay cool. You’ll want refreshing drinks, as well as, some amazing grilling recipes to keep you going.
Choose from Two Meal Plans
The regular meal plan includes slow cooker meals on Sundays and Wednesdays, for a break in the kitchen or to use on those busy days. There are a variety of meats and seafood with some seasonal salads to break it up just a bit. And on Friday nights we have grilled meals as we welcome summer.
Or choose the Instant Pot Meal Plan. On this plan, I have included some delicious seasonal meals with a variety of meats (fish, chicken, pork, beef), plus a few salads. And the suggestions for breakfasts, lunches, snacks, and desserts at the bottom are all Instant Pot recipes too!
There is a variety of meats (fish, chicken, beef, pork) as well as salads (on both plans) to keep the whole family happy. My hope each month is that you will find some new favorites to add to your own must-have rotation.
As always, feel free to move any of the recipes around as needed to fit your family’s schedule. You can also combine the two for more variety. And if you’d like to switch up some of the Slow Cooker Meals to an Instant Pot recipe, check out this Instant Pot beginners post for a great link to help!
